Research Department

Our Research Department is engaged in the development of a research project which centers on the deepening of the concepts of transition and crisis. We intend to understand each of these concepts separately and to know the core meaning of each of them. We are also putting our emphasis on a proper differentiation between normal development and psychopathology during midlife. Of course, as our understanding tool is psychoanalytic thinking we intend to explain our findings on the basis of Freudian metapsychology. We would like to share more specific topics about our work in a private way.

The range of our Foundation encompasses not only specific psychoanalytic treatment but also a research project. Our international purpose is to be in contact with other groups or organizations dealing with the same interests, especially with those engaged in research projects and studies like ours. In this way our Research Department is looking forward to answering all messages received. Travesía Foundation will share the hypotheses and frames of work in a private way with those interested in midlife transition/crisis psychoanalytic understanding. We will also thank each bibliographic information we receive, because we have been organizing a data base specially pointing at midlife and adult psychoanalytic books and papers.

Travesía Foundation designates Calvin A. Colarusso, M.D. as its first and main Honorary Member.

This appointment is a thankful symbolical answer as a recognition not only for his theoretical and clinical deep psychoanalytic understandings about midlife and its vicissitudes but also for his kindness and human integrity.
